Overcoming stress, anxiety, panic disorder and depression are behaviors that animals experience as

well as people. What can we do to help animals with these behaviors?

Josh Meyers is trained in nutritional support for voercoming stress, anxiety, panic disorder, and depression.

At five years of age Josh Meyers had his first panic attack which, over the next twenty years, spiraled into crippling anxiety and depression. Unable to eat, sleep, work, socialize or attend school and fearful of loosing my life, he threw myself into research which led to his recovery.

As a California state US Jr. Olympic champion in Rifle, he trained at the US Olympic Training center in Colorado Springs. As an instructor and owner of a Paragliding company, he supported himself and his family while getting his degree in Psychology. He is now married and has two children.

His passion is to help others live full, happy, free, rewarding, and successful lives.

My grandfather lived his whole life with profound anxiety and depression, he lived a little more than eighty years. My mother struggled with the same disorders for forty years; she had some help and guidance. I overcame the same issues in twenty years and now help others overcome their challenges in a few month or sometimes weeks!

There is no magic in this, it is all about knowledge and understanding that came hard for those who came before us, but is now easily available to anyone. This is no different than for thousands of illnesses that used to claim whole lives, but now can be fixed in short order. We are now at a point where no one needs to have their lives diminished by anxiety and depression. It is my personal mission to share this belief with as many people as possible, and to help anyone who has the courage to ask for it.

I remember vividly my downward spiral of going from my first panic attack to my next panic attack, to generalized anxiety to depression with generalized anxiety. For years I cycled from generalized anxiety to depression and back with some pannic attacks thrown in for good measure. What a terrible time that was. I was waiting for a miracle of some kind to bring me out. The miracle turned out to be many small changes in my life that anyone can do. The trick is to find your own personal set of behaviors that help you to feel better. For most people this takes about a month working with me once a week.

Anna Mae Botts, the spunky heroine of the title, is at an awkward age 12 a bit more than a child, not quite a teenager, and burdened with slightly more than the average quantity of angsts for her age. She has a tag-along younger brother Malcolm, and an eccentric grandmother who believes absolutely in ghosts, voo-doo and weird and smelly charms. She also has a best friend named Raul who may become more than just a best friend, as Anna Mae grows up â€" as well as the enmity of the class bully and his circle at her middle school, who all insist that it was Anna Mae who set a fire which almost burned the whole school down. On top of it all, Anna Mae has a very personal haunt, a great black disembodied fist, which materializes at the very worst of times, and appears to be trying to direct Anna Mae on a quest. The quest is a search for a missing gold treasure, a fortune in gold ingots and coin, which vanished during the last days of the Confederacy. Led by Anna 's visions, ably assisted by her little brother and Raul, and driven by her grandmother, at the wheel of a battered automobile which everyone admits is too much of a wreck for anyone to ever consider stealing, Anna Mae and her allies use every resource they have to track down and unearth the missing gold.

The charm of Anna Mae and her adventures are undeniable, launching as they are from a school experience that is as fraught as I recall my own beingâ€¦ except for the ghosts, the visions and the floating chalk scribbling messages on the blackboard. Anna Mae is relatively unflappable, brave and determined to get to the bottom of it all. Another of the charms is that she is stoutly assisted â€" and believed â€" by certain of the adults around her, which is a pleasant switch from the sort of story which often pitches a child hero or heroine against a wholly uncaring adult world.

Harry E. Gilleland, Jr. is a 64-year-old southerner. Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, he earned a B.S. (1966) and a M.S. (1968) in Microbiology from the University of Georgia in Athens. Following three years of service in the U.S. Army as a captain, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, he returned to earn a Ph.D. in Microbiology from UGA in 1973. He then headed north to complete a two-year fellowship at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. In July of 1975 he joined the faculty of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. After twenty-nine years of teaching microbiology to medical and graduate students and performing vaccine research, Harry retired in July of 2004. Today Harry lives in Shreveport with his wonderful wife Linda and their Corgi, Rusty. Harry enjoys being able to engage in his passion for writing full-time.

Harry has previously published three books of his personal poetry: Poetry For The Common Man: Storoems and Poems (2003, ISBN 1411600649), Gilleland Poetry: Storoems and Poems (2005, ISBN 1411629272), and Poetic Musings of an Old, Fat Man (2008, ISBN 978-1-4357-1242-3). In addition, Harry has published two books of prose, a tale of fantasy entitled Bob the Dragon Slayer (2005, ISBN 1411633156) and a contemporary romance story entitled White Lightning Road (2006, ISBN 978-1-4116-8693-9).

Harry Gilleland’s poetry has been included in four multi-author print anthologies of poems and short stories, in several poetry e-zines, and on numerous Internet poetry forums, in addition to his own three published collections. His storoems (story-poems) and poems are readily accessible to all readers, including those who do not regularly read poetry. Harry views the world with a poet’s eye.

Book Description: Poetic Musings of an Old, Fat Man is the third published collection of poetry written by poet Harry E. Gilleland, Jr. This new collection of 81 storoems and poems will engage its readers by making them think about life and leaving them pondering their emotions and beliefs. It will also bring smiles and maybe a tear or two. Contained within this collection are forty-seven rhyming poems and "storoems", a format coined by Gilleland. A storoem is a hybrid between a story and a poem, i.e. a story told with poetic techniques. The collection also contains twenty-eight free-verse poems, four acrostic poems, and two limericks. These writings are poetry for the thinking person, be he/she someone who is a poetry lover or someone who normally does not read poetry. This poetry is easily readable and accessible to all -- poetry for the poet and the common man alike. A wide variety of subjects are addressed, including everyday life events, observations of nature, tales of fantasy, expressions of love, and much more. This wonderful collection will surprise and delight all readers.

Lillian Cauldwell is an author of many articles, short stories and poems. She has a published novel, Sacred Honor, a science fiction/historical novel, and will soon release The Anna Mae Mysteries, the first in a series of books for young people. She also has POETRY: Urban Voices under consideration with a publisher. Lillian was formerly an instructor at Long Story Short School of Writing teaching several courses: Interviewing, Pre-Marketing Plan for Books, Internet Talk Radio, and Podcasting as well as a consultant for authors who require help marketing and promoting their book(s) and selves. She mentors teenagers interested in writing their first novels. After working for two years as an Internet talk radio host at two different radio stations, Lillian started her own station, Passionate Internet Voices Talk Radio, Inc. The Company is two and a half years old and is ranked as a mid-list Internet talk radio station. Lillian is a board member for ICWP and a member of CBWI, The Writer's Union, and Women in Media. She enjoys her status of grandmother to identical twin granddaughters, her son, a graphic artist nominated for The Eisner Award two years ago for his original comic book, The Dare Detectives. LillianI lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she loves to bake, lift weights, walk, and do worldwide community work. She is an avid advocate of the US Military and her support has been acknowledged by President George W. Bush.

John McCain claims the problems of uninsured people and the high cost of medical services can be corrected by "market forces." He ignores the fact that "market forces" cause this mess in the first place.

Whenever I hear McCain sounding the warning about government employees making "decision" about our health care, I remember that he's received government-administered medical care every day of his life. What I do not hear from him is an explanation of the terrible experience he's had in the delivery of poor medical care of being denied necessary care as a result of any decision made by a government employee. He seems to be in excellent shape for a man of his age who was so badly injured during his North Vietnamese internment and has survived multiple cancers. How can he say that we'll receive any care that is worse than the government program that seems to have benefited John McCain so well?

McCain wants insurance to be portable between jobs but doesn't mention how people will pay for coverage during time gaps between jobs.

He wants insurance companies to sell policies across state lines, which would threaten the control states exercise over companies that do business within their borders and lead to more abuses than already exist.

McCain wants to segregate sick people into a "pool" so that healthy people won't have to help pay the cost of medical services for people who actually need them. That will raise the already high cost of coverage for people who can least afford to pay for it.

McCain's health care "reform" is "business as usual." Nothing will change with Republicans in the White House

ANIMAL FAMILIES OF MOONHAVEN - by Flash Silvermoon /Animal Communicator
Its so wonderful to see how animals in a family actually behave like family. My crew shows me their devotion to each other time and time again.

As I am writing this story, my gorgeous Appaloosa mare Chinamoon is looking in the window at me slaving over a hot computer, and my dog Apple is asleep behind me on the floor My two boy cats Star and Red are fast asleep next to me on chairs and if I look out the other window on the opposite side, my most witchly black cat Jasmine is asleep on the hot tub cover. I am totally surrounded and totally loved too. Tucky, the gray Tabby, is elsewhere being mystical no doubt.

I thought that I would have to put my 14 yr. old dog, Apple down on New Years Eve, 2007. He's half German Shepherd and half Catahoula Leopard Hound, a leopard shepherd. He by the way, has had nothing but skin problems since his first rabies shot, never had them before.
[Those shots are in many cases a veterinary hustle and the honest ones will tell you that they can sometimes cause more harm than good and certainly needn't be done yearly. The vaccines are good for usually 3 yrs so the yearly shot is just a scam.] Back to the animal family stuff. My dog Apple's back leg became dysfunctional and he couldn't easily keep himself up for a while. Thankfully through homeopathy and a very brave woman cutting his long nails, he is better today over a year later. During his crisis, which lasted nearly a week, my youngest cat Star who is a sweet little white mush ball started sleeping next to Apple [short for Appaloosa because he was spotted and big as a horse]. You could see that the two of them were traveling on some other plane as they both looked absolutely dead. Apple also rarely tolerates anyone getting that close.

I am quite sure that my little Star was helping energize and heal his big bro. I have seen the younger and healthier in my family lay down and literally share energy with the elders or sick ones sometimes lying back to back.
Star has been tending to Apple by running to the door whenever Apple wants to come in from the outside. It is the cutest thing to see him sit and meow frantically until I come and let Apple inside. I discovered as I watched them more closely that Star is totally devoted to checking up on Apple in many ways and letting me know if something is not right. Also, since Apple became deaf it seems that Star understands that he has special needs and really looks after him.

Apple is a big boy and is surely on the last part of his life but he is up and around now and acting like a happy dog again. Several years ago when his best friend Bear passed, I thought that I would lose him too as he was really Bear's dog. There were a few months that were touch and go but he finally became my dog and the only dog of four left in the household. This was quite a transformation for him, but I feel like he really blossomed and has taken his job of top and only dog, quite seriously. Because Apple is a herder from both sides of his gene pool, he has modified his job to counting, clients, animals, and visitors. Since I started letting Star out a bit, Apple frets and fusses looking outside for his little brother until he sees Star come bouncing into the house and it is really, really sweet.

Apple and China have their own funny way of relating. I think they both actually love each other but they have a pretend antagonism, which looks like, "I see you, I run, you see me, you run." Neither of them has ever so much as lifted a tooth or hoof to the other and Apple patrols China's paddock daily with much dedication while I toss several flakes of hay to her. It's like they have unspoken agreements, all of them actually.

I have seen some of my furry friends who don't crave each other throw themselves between family member and an intruder. Years ago, my white cat Jade had a nearly tragic accident and needed to be in a cage for a month or 2 while she recuperated. Her brother Crystal would sit on top of her cage to protect her most of the time and we would actually have to move both of them when we needed to carry Jade somewhere to treat her injuries. A few years later, Jasmine who regularly hissed at Jade had an accident and needed to be in the cage for a week or two and that Jade sat beside her in the cage the whole time as if to say, "I know all about being in a cage sister, I am here in solidarity with you."

It is very important when a family member passes, be it human or animal, or if a lover leaves, etc., that you treat the whole family for grief as they all feel it. Right now, I am writing a book about my experiences with the animals called Lifetime Companions, Love Never Dies, which particularly focuses on reincarnation and your pets. I truly know that they do come back and want to be back with their families again and again. Most of my furry family are repeaters. I write this book for my own healing of animal losses as well as to help other people with the heartbreak of losing a beloved animal friend.[this piece will probably be part of the book]

About the Joy Delgado, Author,

Rebekha always knew she wanted to spend her life working with animals. She never lost sight of that dream. She started her 'career' working with animals in elementary school by writing about them. One of her poems, 'Wish', was published in a national poetry contest. It is about wishing that she was a wolf, for only a day or two. In high school, she continued to write about animals and even entered her writing in local contests.

After high school she went to the University of Florida where she received her B.A. in Anthropology. She then attended the Santa Fe Community College Teaching Zoo and earned her A.S. in Zoo Animal Technology. While she was there, she wrote Zooprise Party / Fiesta Zoorpresa, and several other stories not published yet.

Upon graduation, Rebekha began working at an AZA accredited zoo in Orlando where she still works today.

Joy Delgado is the mother of two, stepmother of one and 'yaya' to her stepdaughter's two girls.

When it came time to buy presents for the 'girls', Joy and her husband Julio decided to buy them books. But not just any books, bilingual books in English and Spanish. These are the two languages spoken in Puerto Rico where they live. The search was on. What they discovered was that bilingual books are hard to find and when you do find them, they are usually about a particular culture.

Joy asked her daughter Rebekha, who was an accomplished writer for help. Rebekha agreed to write stories for the girls. Joy taught herself how to draw on the computer and illustrated the book and Julio then translated the story to Spanish.

As the 'project' developed, it became clear that this wasn't just a book. This was a book that would help teach a second language as well as inform people about animals that aren't very common. From that realization, Joy developed the Activity Book and the Teacher's Guide to take the book beyond reading.
